Spain won the latest in the series of big matches against old rivals France, with their U18 Women taking the European Championship 76 points to 60. France led in the early stages but Spain took the initiative in the latter part of the 2nd Quarter and never really looked back, with Angela Salvadores (27 pts, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) and Maria Conde (21 pts, 16 rebounds) again dominant in attack.
Russia took the bronze medal with a big 71 to 52 win against Italy and Poland lost to Hungary in the 13th/14th play-off match, meaning they will join Estonia and Portugal in the Division B championship next year, having been relegated. Their places will be taken by Latvia, the Slovak Republic and Turkey, who were promoted from Division B.
The tournament team consisted of MVP Angela Salvadores (Spa), Lisa Berkani (Fra), Alexia Chartereau (Fra), Francesca Pan (Ita) and Raisa Musina (Rus).
